A Note from Pastor Alan
Dear Friends,
This is the time of the year when people
look to the future with optimism and hope. They make various
resolutions and self-promises for a greater life in the coming
year.
The fact of the matter is not much will be different today
than it was weeks ago in 2006. In order for there to be a
change, you must make a change. It's good to make New Year
resolutions, but it's more profitable to make changes, even
if they are small ones, consistently.
There was a man who road the train to work into the city every
day and instead of reading the paper, he began to write a
commentary to the Bible. Though he only had a half hour each
way, he used that time to study the Word and write notes on
his study. After several years he had a ten volume commentary
on the Bible, which is read today by countless ministers.
How many minutes make up a change in ones life? How many consistent
kind words build another's self esteem? I have heard countless
stories of a Christian speaking to a friend a few words at
a time, about the Lord, and eventually a soul was born into
the kingdom.
"For who hath despised the
day of small things?" Zech. 4:10a (KJV)
I had a dear saint in our Church named
Sybil Archer and she used to say "Little is much when
God is in it". Everybody is waiting for God to give
them something big to do, and ignoring the little things that
actually move the Kingdom forward.
Small acts of obedience lead to major changes in lives and
churches, as well as in business. Try driving a different
way to work, and you will see signs, property and opportunities
you would have never seen before. Experiment with your personal
schedule, pray at a different time, or in a different place
and see the change that presents it's self. Volunteering to
do something you never have done before may lead to new relationships.
In short, do things this year you have never done before and
you might see things you've never knew were there!
In Him
Pastor Alan
